We have had such a brilliant half term. The children have engaged in their learning and got very much involved in all the different areas of the unit. All the children have cooperated and shared the resources incredibly well and beginning to show very good listening and speaking skills.
We have been particularly impressed with their enjoyment of our new maths mastery curriculum. The children are very enthusiastic about our daily maths meetings which involve songs, actions and counting rhymes. This half term, we have been looking mainly at repeating patterns and 2D shapes.
The children have been working with their ‘talk partners’ and making their own repeating patterns. We have loved seeing the different range of patterns that they have come up with, different colours, big and small and long and short. They also made their own ‘patterned’ wrapping paper!
The Foundation children really enjoyed the guessing game with shapes, where one child had to give clues to the shape they were holding and their talk partner had to guess what shape it might be. They did this game with such maturity and expertise.
The staff continue to put up photos on the Foundation Blog of all the different activities the children have been up to during each week so make sure you get the QR code for that.
We look forward to the next half term with great excitement, as they really are fantastic in Foundation!
