In Year 2, we are having a fantastic time reading exciting riddles and  learning  to write our own.


Here are some of the things that make a successful riddle:

– Use precise adjectives, powerful verbs and interesting sentence starters.

– Put the hardest clue  first (so that the reader doesn’t guess what it is too quickly!) and save the easiest clue for last.

– Show the viewpoint of the animal being described – explain to the reader how the animal thinks and feels.


We plan to use our riddle writing skills to create our very own riddles about the creatures that may be living in Pearl’s Land. Stay tuned to learn the answer to the question:  Who’s hiding in our vegetable patch?
