Our school community embraces parents as a vital link in ensuring your child achieves their very best. A successful and open partnership is essential throughout your child’s time at Alphington. The school operates an ‘open door’ policy and I am available most days both informally and formally if you have any concerns or worries. It is always beneficial to approach the classteacher first, but everyone is available to talk about your child’s needs.
The school communicates with parents/carers in various ways e.g. newsletters, questionnaires, parentmail, interviews and informal evenings. Information is also placed on our website (www.alphington.devon.sch.uk). Parents/carers are invited to assemblies and Parents’ Evenings each term. Parents have access to attainment data on line and a full report is sent home every year. Parents/carers are invited to attend our sports afternoon and open evenings as well as children’s performances. There are opportunities throughout the year when parents/carers can meet the staff and governors in an informal setting. The school has set in place a Home School Agreement and involves parents in policy decisions. There is also a School Forum which has created an effective voice between parents and staff.
