Each week, every Friday, come rain or shine, the Foundation children button up their jackets, pull on their wellie boots and venture out onto the wonderful grounds of Alphington Primary school.
We are so fortunate to have a little scrub of woodland attached to the school field and from their a wonderful piece of land with a pond. The children go to either the forest or to Mr Clark’s garden area each week. We alternate with Year 1 who continue to go down each Friday too!
We have learnt lots of different forest school skills and done some terrific activities while in our lovely outdoor space but most importantly the children are doing lots of their learning outside in the fresh (sometimes very cold!) air!
We are looking forward to bringing in a more gardening theme to our visits to Mr Clark’s garden and starting to prepare our raised beds for planting in the spring time. We also were fortunate to have the pond recently cleared so hopefully the children will get an opportunity to engage in a spot of pond dipping! We can’t wait!
