On Friday 28th April, Alphington hosted a netball match against Ide. Both teams started strong and within a few minutes, Ide had scored their first goal. Alphington responded with excellent teamwork and determination and quickly equalised. By the end of the first quarter, Alphington were winning 3-1.
In the second quarter, both teams worked very hard and there were many turnovers, interceptions and goals. The children showed fantastic resilience when goals didn’t go in first time and their efforts didn’t go unnoticed- the second quarter ended 5-2 to Alphington.
With fresh players, there was a new lease of life in the third quarter. Alphington thrived through fantastic communication on court and finding space to run into. Both teams suffered injuries in this quarter but they kept going! The third quarter finished 6-2.
In the last quarter, both teams were fighting for the win! They gave it their all and Alphington came out overall as the winners 8-3. Both teams should be proud of their sportsmanship and support of each other- it was great to see!
A quick thank you to Ide for travelling to the match and to all the parent support- your cheers and claps really encouraged the children! More fixtures to be announced soon…
