Are your fingers green?

We’ve been really enjoying our ‘Green Fingers’ theme at school. We’ve learnt about the conditions that plants need in order to grow and are growing our own herbs. We hope to make delicious soup for friends and family in a few weeks time.

A huge thank you to friends and family for helping with the fantastic ‘Green Fingers’ home learning.

We’ve been reading non-fiction texts during our Guided Reading sessions and have looked for features of a non-fiction text. We’ve also been enjoying some art work based around pattern and symmetry in nature. In maths we have been measuring plants and surveying parents about their favourite herb. When we interpreted the bar chart, we learnt that most of you like basil best. Hopefully our own basil plant will grow well over the next few weeks!

Our Literacy outcome has been to create a Gardeners’ Guide for people who want ‘green fingers’. Look out for these on a display board soon (probably the ICT suite).

Kevin came to visit us from West Town farm. We learnt a lot about growing your own food and preparing a flower bed.
